A cake board is the flat support placed under the cake that makes it easy for your to pick the cake up and take it where it needs to go.  

Once you have your cake on your cake board, you will be able to lift it easy into the cake box.  Be sure you choose a cake box that is tall and large enough to hold your cake. Cake boxes are also available in several shapes and sizes with or without a window.
